Nowadays it seems that every single day is national something day!
Some of these events are truly worthy. For example, I’m writing this on World Mental Health Day, a day commemorating a subject that needs as much exposure as possible. However, some of these occasions are rather less convincing.
With that in mind, allow me to present “National Lost Sock Day” (May 9th) and “National Spicy Guacamole Day” (November 14th). 🙂
National Flex Day
National Flex Day, which is on Tuesday, October 15th this year, is one of the events that fits into my “worthy” column.
If I wasn’t passionate about remote working (and freelancing), I wouldn’t spend my life running a website about it. I talk about the lifestyle a lot, so I won’t repeat everything here, but working from home offers so many benefits, including better work / life balance, less stress, and more freedom.
Additionally, as we all become more environmentally aware, it seems truly bizarre that so many people waste hours of their lives pumping out pollution on a commute. Technology allows so much to be done from home nowadays that the idea of a central “office” seems increasingly outdated.
With this in mind, National Flex Day is a good opportunity to remind people of the benefits of flexible working, and to encourage businesses to explore the possibilities.
Free Career Coaching
Brie Reynolds, a career development manager and coach at Flexjobs, is running a free live career coaching event on Flex Day. It takes place at 2PM Eastern Time and you can find more details and sign up here. It’s still worth registering if you’re not free at that time, as you will be sent a link to the recording of the event.
Flexjobs is also doing lots more to promote the day. Keep an eye on the #NationalFlexDay Twitter hashtag for live polls and more.
A Special Offer
Also in honor of National Flex Day, Flexjobs has launched a special voucher code promotion that gives you up to 50% off a Flexjobs membership.
Flexjobs is an online service that curates remote, flexible and freelance opportunities. The company is completely legit and has an A+ / 5-Star rating with the Better Business Bureau.
Flexjobs charges a small monthly membership fee, as discussed in our full review. At full price this works out to less than the cost of a typical take-out pizza, but with the promotion it can go as low as just $3.75 per month.
To take advantage of the offer, you need to sign up with this link and use the voucher code FLEXDAY. This offer ends on Wednesday 10/16.
A Flexjobs membership not only gives you access to lots of flexible job opportunities, you can also get discounts on services like career coaching and resumé revamps. Find out all the details in our review.
I hope you get to benefit from either the offer or the free coaching event, and wish you a Happy Flex Day!
